Olde Orchard
Elementary School
Academic Brief
Our school, as a literature based alternative school, makes use of authentic children's literature throughout the curriculum. This integration makes learning at Olde Orchard fun and exciting for all. Each year, we also host a well-known children's author or illustrator.

Curriculum
Reading, math, English, science, social studies, health, art, music and physical education. Olde Orchard is a literature-based language arts alternative school program.
Academic Support
READING PROGRAM: Our school uses the district-wide LACES reading program to support our literature based philosophy. Olde Orchard also has Math and Science Specialists that work primarily with the 4th and 5th grade.
Reading Support Resources for 3rd Grade Families
Columbus City Schools has put together a page specifically for 3rd Grade Parents to utilize to support their students in getting ready for the required testing in order to pass the 3rd Grade Reading Guarantee. Click HERE to go to that page. On this page, you will also find weekly activities to do with your student.
Fun Activities:
We have nationally recognized authors and illustrators come each year to interact with our children for a day. Children also take field trips to connect their learning to the real world. Our PTO sponsors many activities such as skating parties, open house, and parent information nights. Olde Orchard also has Panda Pride activities for students who demonstrate Panda Pride throughout the school year. At the end of the year, we also have one of the best field days around with many team building games and plenty of chances to get wet.
